LOCAL and GLOBAL MISSIONS

Roscoe United Methodist Church is actively involved in missions in the Rockford metropolitan area. Roscoe Methodist members strive to be Jesus' hands and feet in our world today.

  • Food is collected for Old Stone Food Pantry which serves our neighbors.
  • Four or five times a year members donate food for and serve lunch at the Emmanuel Episcopal Soup Kitchen in Rockford.
  • Several times a year Roscoe Methodist makes sack lunches and leads a chapel service at Rockford Rescue Mission.
  • Rockford Urban Ministries, Habitat For Humanity, Backpack Ministry, Project 16:49, Caritas (Beloit, Wi), Carpenter's Place, Salvation Army,  State and National Missions, Camp Reynoldswood and Wesley Woods Camp are also beneficiaries of Roscoe Methodist Missions.
  • Loose coins are collected from the offering and given to 12 local and world missions throughout the year.
  • Annual Mission trips are the highlight of many members' summer.  Groups travel to a selected area where they stay for a week and work on a variety of projects to improve the lives of those in need.
  • Roscoe Methodist is a participant in the Northern Illinois Food Bank's Backpack program, providing weekend meals for our local hungry children.
  • Roscoe Methodist tutors students weekly at two Rockford Public Schools to give our local students the skills and confidence to become successful in life.
  • Annual Angel Trees are a highlight of the Christmas season at Roscoe Methodist, providing gifts for five different local organizations serving low-income neighbors.
